Lee took exception to many students & faculty present on the university’s campus. He wasn’t from their world of prestige and privilege, and he knew that. Worst of all: they knew it too. They could tell he wasn’t ‘one of them’, and this was a world he’d never belong to; a world that didn’t want him. He knew they looked down their noses at him. They didn’t see a person, they saw a subordinate: a subspecies. Was Lee destined to a life of servitude behind these ivy-covered prison walls? It’s beginning to feel like he’s not welcome anywhere. Lee wasn’t always this way. He used to be a social guy. He was voted ‘Class Clown’ in 8th grade. There didn’t seem to be much to laugh about now.
